What should I bring or do before my appointment?
No special preparation is needed — just remove personal items, loose change, and valuables from your vehicle before arrival. If you have child car seats or large accessories, removing them ahead of time allows our detailers to reach every surface thoroughly. Also, avoid running your car through an automatic car wash right before your appointment, as those can leave behind residue or create swirl marks.
How long does each service take?
Service time depends on the package and vehicle condition:
- Basic detailing: 2–3 hours
- Full detailing: 3–5 hours
- Ceramic coating: 5+ hours
- Window tinting: 1–3 hours
We will confirm exact timing after reviewing your consultation.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
Yes. We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule your appointment.

Preparations & Expectations FAQs
Do I need to prepare my vehicle before arrival?
No preparation is required, but removing personal items from your vehicle is recommended.
Where are you located?
8625 N High St, Columbus, OH 43235
Do you offer mobile services?
Yes. We provide mobile services.
How long will I be without my vehicle?
Service times vary: a basic detail takes 2–3 hours, a full detail takes 3–5 hours, and a ceramic coating can take 5+ hours due to the multi-stage prep work required. Window tinting typically takes 1–3 hours depending on vehicle size. We’ll confirm your estimated pick-up time when we review your booking so you can plan accordingly.
What if I’m not satisfied with my service?
Your satisfaction is our priority. If anything doesn’t meet your expectations, contact us within 48 hours of your service and we’ll make it right — whether that means a touch-up, a redo, or a resolution that works for both of us. We stand behind our work and want every Turtle Shield client to leave happy.
Can I wait at the shop while my vehicle is being serviced?
Yes, you’re welcome to wait if your service is a shorter appointment such as a basic detail or window tint. For longer services like full details or ceramic coatings, we recommend arranging alternate transportation since your vehicle may be with us for several hours. Our team will keep you updated on progress and reach out when your vehicle is ready.
Pricing & Policies FAQs
How does pricing work?
Pricing depends on vehicle size, condition, and selected services. Final pricing is confirmed after reviewing your consultation.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit/debit cards and digital payments.
Do you charge extra for larger vehicles like trucks or SUVs?
Yes — vehicle size and condition are two of the main factors that affect final pricing. Larger vehicles such as trucks, SUVs, and vans require more product, more time, and more labor than a standard sedan. Final pricing is always confirmed after reviewing your specific vehicle, so there are no surprises when you arrive.
Can I get a price estimate before booking?
Absolutely. Submit a consultation request and include your vehicle year, make, model, and the service you’re interested in. Our team will review with you and provide a confirmed price before you commit. For custom services, we’ll provide a tailored quote based on your specific needs.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Auto Detailing FAQs
What is included in a detailing package?
Each package includes interior and exterior cleaning, with higher-tier packages adding deep cleaning, paint correction, and protection.
Which detailing package should I choose?
Bronze: maintenance cleaning
Silver: deeper refresh
Gold: full restoration
Ceramic: long-term protection
If unsure, choose your best estimate—we’ll guide you after submission.
Do you remove stains and odors?
Yes. We offer deep cleaning and odor removal treatments as add-ons for more intensive interior restoration.
How often should I get my car professionally detailed?
Most vehicles benefit from a full detail every 4–6 months. If you drive frequently, park outside, or live in an area with harsh weather, more frequent visits — especially seasonal cleanings in spring and fall — help protect the paint from UV rays and road salt. Between appointments, a regular hand wash every two weeks is recommended to keep the vehicle in top condition.
Can you remove scratches and swirl marks from the paint?
Yes. Swirl marks and light scratches are addressed during paint correction, which is included in our Ceramic packages and available as an add-on for other tiers. Our detailers use professional-grade polishing compounds to restore clarity to the clear coat. Deeper scratches that have penetrated through to the paint may require a body shop referral, and we’ll let you know during your consultation.
What products do you use, and are they safe for my vehicle?
We use professional-grade, pH-balanced products specifically formulated for automotive surfaces — not household cleaners, which can strip protective coatings and damage paint. Our product line includes high-quality car wash soaps, microfiber-safe clay bars, carnauba or synthetic wax for paint protection, and dedicated wheel and glass cleaners. Every product choice is made with the long-term health of your vehicle’s surfaces in mind.
Window Tinting FAQs
What window tint percentages are legal in Ohio?
Ohio law specifies tint darkness by window position. Front side windows must allow at least 50% VLT (Visible Light Transmission), while back side windows and the rear window can be any darkness. The windshield may only be tinted along the top 5 inches or the AS-1 line, whichever is closer to the top. Reflective or mirrored materials are not permitted on any window.
Which tint percentage should I choose?
The most popular choice for a balanced look and good visibility is 20% for rear windows. For front windows, many Ohio drivers choose 35–50% to comply with state law while still reducing glare and heat. If you prefer a very dark rear window, 5% is available and legal on back windows in Ohio. Not sure? We’ll walk you through every option at your consultation.
Does window tint go on the inside or outside of the glass?
Window tint film is applied to the inside surface of the glass. This protects the film from the elements, road debris, and wear — ensuring a longer-lasting, cleaner finish. Professional installation ensures no bubbles, proper edge adhesion, and compliance with Ohio’s tint laws.
How long does window tinting take?
Tinting time depends on the vehicle type and how many windows are being done. A typical vehivle takes 1.5–2 hours. After installation, the film needs time to fully cure — small water bubbles or haziness immediately after are completely normal and will disappear within 2–4 weeks depending on the weather.
How long will my tint last, and does it come with a warranty?
We offer Limited Life Time Warranty with proper care. We use high-quality films backed by a manufacturer’s warranty that covers common defects like bubbling, peeling, and fading. To protect your investment, avoid rolling windows down for the first 2–3 days post-installation.
Will window tint reduce heat and UV inside my car?
Yes — this is one of the biggest benefits. Quality window film significantly reduces solar heat entering your vehicle, keeping the interior cooler on hot Ohio summers. Our Nano Ceramic series films have IRR (Inferred Rejection Rating) of up to 96%, protecting both your skin and your interior upholstery from fading. This also reduces strain on your air conditioning, which can improve fuel efficiency over time.

Do you remove stains and odors?
Yes. We offer deep cleaning and odor removal treatments as add-ons for more intensive interior restoration.
What is paint protection film (PPF) and how is it different from ceramic coating?
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a thick, clear film physically bonded to your vehicle’s surface to shield it from rock chips, road debris, and minor scratches. Ceramic coating, by contrast, is a liquid nano-coating that bonds chemically to the paint and provides hydrophobic protection and enhanced gloss. PPF offers superior physical impact protection, while ceramic coating excels at repelling water, dirt, and UV damage — many clients choose both for comprehensive coverage.
How long does paint protection film last?
High-quality PPF typically lasts 5–10 years, with premium films often outliving their warranties. Warranties generally cover yellowing, staining, delamination, peeling, and bubbling. To maximize lifespan, hand-wash with pH-neutral soap, avoid automatic car washes, and have the film inspected annually.
